PENETRANT TESTING
Frazer Nash NDT Ltd can supply Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI) or Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) both in our lab and on-site as required. PT can be applied to almost any non-porous materials from welds to castings as seen in the photographs. The method of PT is to reveal any surface breaking indications through “bleed out” of a coloured dye from the flaw.
Fluorescent PT is based on the same principle; however the conditions of test are in darkened conditions with the aid of an Ultra Violet Light. This method is generally used for complex castings, machined parts or aerospace components.
